The Great Destroyer

Guns are not only wrecking lives but the very fabric of community and public space. They create the potential for fatalities and injury in situations and places where there should only be verbal exchanges and dialogue. They are the match on a pile of rags and kerosene, ready to inflame and destroy. Road rage, workplace revenge, and domestic violence are but a few of the situations in which access to guns leads easily to emotion-fueled homicide or suicide. As a result of easy access to guns, there are fewer and fewer places that are truly safe public spaces. It’s not surprising that most Americans believe guns should be regulated to a much greater degree than they are today. What is surprising is just how difficult it is for the belief of the many to prevail when it comes to passing regulation.
